William Diddel in 1957. The Tribute Course was designed by Rick
Robbins/Gary Koch and opened in 2000.
Restored courses from financial burden with drastic maintenance improvements all around.
Instituted an aggressive thatch management program on greens with resounding success.
Redefined rough with respect to species, accurate irrigation, and eradicated weed populations.
Appointed Facilities’ Director in addition to superintendent duties; manage ski operations also.
SHANTY CREEK RESORT - THE LEGEND & SUMMIT COURSES - BELLAIRE, MI
GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
72-hole golf and ski resort. The Legend Course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1986. It was named one of the top four resort courses in the US by Golf Magazine. The Summit Course was designed by William Diddel and is one of northern Michigan’s gems.
Managed 36 holes with separate labor crews.
Improved overall conditions with superior watering and cultural practices.
Hosted the 2005 Michigan PGA Professional Championship.
SHANTY CREEK RESORT - CEDAR RIVER COURSE - BELLAIRE, MI
The Cedar River Course was designed by Tom Weiskopf. It is a Top 100 Resort Course
according to Golf Week and is in Golf Magazine’s ‘Top Ten in the US You Can Play.’
Improved playing conditions with controlled water practices.
Introduced new ideas that elevated overall quality of the course.
Hosted Michigan PGA Classic and the Michigan PGA Professional Championship.
DEEPDALE GOLF CLUB - MANHASSET, NY
18-hole private facility designed by Dick Wilson and opened in 1956. It is considered
one of the exclusive clubs of Long Island.
Maintained impeccable daily course conditions to discerning membership.
Hosted 1999 Metropolitan Amateur Tournament during internship.
Worked with architect Tripp Davis on a green modification project.
CHEMUNG HILLS COUNTRY CLUB - HOWELL, MICHIGAN
18-hole private facility opened in 1921 and located in the Greater Detroit area.
Hosted 2002 GAM Women’s Championship.
Drastically improved playing conditions by managing irrigation and fertility.
